I want to welcome you to the Re-Elect 3rd District Bowie City Councilmember Todd M. Turner campaign website in the City of Bowie, Prince George’s County, Maryland. I believe the 3rd Council District is the “Heart” of the City of Bowie. I appreciate and respect the trust the residents have placed in me to represent their interests and concerns as I have served the City of Bowie since November 2005. I am also proud that I received over 70% of the vote and increased voter turnout in the district by 22% in 2005.
Since 2005 the City of Bowie, and the 3rd Council District, have faced several challenges and have had many accomplishments. I was honored to support the creation a new Bowie Police Department, the hiring our first Police Chief and a diverse group of officers. I am proud that the 3rd Council District will be future home to the new Bowie City Hall/Police station, a new Fire/EMS station and will also see the opening of our first new elementary school in Northview in August 2007. I was also pleased to support responsible fiscal management and practices that resulted in no City tax increase in Fiscal Years 2008 and 2010.
I look forward again to meeting and speaking with the citizens of the 3rd Council District over the next several months leading up to the November 3rd election to continue to provide collective ideas and solutions to these important issues facing our area and the City of Bowie. After my election in 2005 I promised to: (1) work hard every day for you, our families and our City: (2) be responsive to your concerns and issues; (3) involve you in my and the City’s decision-making process; and (4) get the results we need. I have held regular Town Hall meetings and established a Legislative Email list to provide information and seek community input as I have sought to address the issues facing our City. I believe I have lived up to my promise and offer myself again as a candidate to the citizens of the 3rd Council District for an additional term.
